Privacy Policy

What we collect, why, and who we share it with.

Last updated: 31 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and what we do with it. We keep it to the minimum we need to run this website, sell you a licence and support you.

“We” means Daniel Hampton, a sole trader in Queensland, Australia, trading under the registered business name Practical Supply Chain Planning, ABN 56 757 743 802. Contact: support@practicalsupplychainplanning.com.

We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. What we don’t collect

  • Your planning data. Your stock, sales, forecast, supplier and order data stay on your PC. The app never sends them to us.
  • Starter Forecast. The sales file is processed in the browser and is never sent.
  • DIFOT Calculator. The supplier list and purchase order file are processed in the browser and are never sent.
  • Usage tracking. The app doesn’t send usage analytics or telemetry.
  • Card details. Paddle handles payment. We never see or store your card number.
  • Advertising and tracking cookies. This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Guided setup exception. The lines above are about the app and the free tools. If you choose Guided setup, you send CSV files for that setup. We use them only for your setup, keep them private, and delete them within 30 days of the call. The app still does not send your planning data. Day to day, your files stay on your PC.

2. When you use our free tools or sign up for articles

If you ask a page on this website to email you the results, we send one email to the address you typed. Starter Forecast and the DIFOT Calculator send a confirmation only. That email does not include your SKUs, sales, suppliers or orders, and the files are processed in the browser and are never sent. We keep a record of that request for 24 months: your email address, the time, the network address, which page you used, the wording you agreed to, and whether you also asked for new articles. We do not keep your SKU names, forecasts, prices, stock levels, suppliers, orders, or the result numbers. If you tick the articles box, we add your address to the Articles list. You can unsubscribe at any time. If a message bounces, or you unsubscribe, we keep the address on a do-not-email list so we do not write to you again. Questions: support@practicalsupplychainplanning.com.

If you use Let's keep in touch, we add your email address to that same Articles list and keep a record of the request, including whether you ticked I'd be happy to beta test. We keep a beta tick until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. A keep-in-touch request without a beta tick is deleted after 24 months.

3. When you start a trial or buy Practical Stock Planner

From Paddle

Paddle is our reseller and Merchant of Record. When you start a trial or buy, Paddle tells us:

  • your name and email address;
  • your Paddle customer ID and subscription ID;
  • your subscription status (for example trialing, active, cancelled, payment failed) and billing dates;
  • refund and chargeback events for your subscription.

Paddle also holds your payment, address and tax details. It uses them under its own privacy notice.

Your licence (on our licence server)

We store:

  • your name, email address and a customer code we create;
  • your Paddle customer and subscription IDs;
  • your licence key, licence status and expiry date;
  • short notes about your licence (for example “refunded” or “chargeback”);
  • the dates we sent you the emails listed below.

When you activate and use the app

Each time the app activates or checks its licence (about once a week), our server records:

  • a random installation ID and token created for that PC (not your PC’s name, serial number or hardware details);
  • the app version;
  • when the installation was activated, last checked and (if moved) deactivated.

The app also keeps a small licence file on your PC, holding your installation token, your name and customer code, and the licence expiry date. It does not keep your licence key after activation.

Our hosting provider (Railway) may keep short-term technical logs of requests, which can include IP addresses.

4. When you contact us

If you email or leave a voicemail, we keep your message, your email address or phone number, and our reply, so we can help you. Voicemails are recorded by our phone provider and sent to our support inbox as an audio file.

5. When you visit our website

Our website is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks. The Practical Stock Planner page loads Paddle’s checkout script (Paddle.js). Paddle may use cookies and device information for the checkout and to prevent fraud.

We count page views with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It does not use cookies, and it does not collect your name or email address. It records the page you opened, the site you came from, your country, your browser, and how fast the page loaded.

6. How we use it

  • To send the results or articles you asked for.
  • To send your licence key and make sure your licence works.
  • To keep your licence in step with your subscription: trial, renewals, cancellations, failed payments, refunds.
  • To stop licence sharing and misuse.
  • To answer your questions.
  • To check CSV files you send for Guided setup, and to prepare for that call. We use those files only for your setup.
  • To ask for your feedback (see below) and improve the software.
  • To meet our legal obligations (for example tax and record-keeping).

We don’t sell your information. We don’t use it for advertising.

Emails we send to customers

Replies to any of these go to support@practicalsupplychainplanning.com. These emails are about your subscription. They contain no offers. If you’d rather not get the feedback emails, reply “stop” and we won’t email you again.

Paddle also emails you receipts and subscription notices (including trial reminders). Those come from Paddle.

We don’t send marketing emails unless you’ve agreed to receive them (for example by ticking the articles box).

7. Who we share it with

We use a few trusted service providers. Each gets only what it needs:

We may also share information if the law requires it.

8. How long we keep it

  • Free-tool email requests: 24 months.

  • Licence and customer records: while you’re a customer and for 7 years after, for tax, record-keeping and disputes.
  • Support emails and voicemails: 2 years.
  • Guided setup files: deleted within 30 days of the call.
  • After that we delete it or make it anonymous.

9. Keeping it safe

Our licence server can only be managed by us, behind a password and a secret key. We never store card details. Connections to our website, licence server and email services are encrypted (HTTPS/TLS).

10. Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

  • show you the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct it;
  • delete it. We may need to keep some records for legal reasons, and deleting your licence record will stop the software working.

Email support@practicalsupplychainplanning.com. We’ll reply within 30 days.

For payment information held by Paddle, contact Paddle through paddle.net or help@paddle.com.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au), or to the data protection authority in your country.

11. Changes

We’ll update this page if anything changes, and change the date at the top. If a change matters to you, we’ll email you.
